Shifts has two core offerings

  • Healing and accountability groups for men who have committed some form of violence. The groups are focused on supporting men in understanding their own lives and how they ended up committing violence, learning to acknowledge the violence and its impacts, to develop and feel remorse, and to explore what repair may look like. The groups consist of a variety of approaches including storytelling, therapeutic processing, accountability oriented exercises, embodied practices like meditation and movement, and political education. These groups are ten weeks long and meet once per week on zoom.

  • One-on-one healing and accountability support for men who have committed some form of violence. One-on-one support generally entails meeting once per week for an hour, for as long as the work requires. The support offered is at the intersection of counseling and coaching, with the aim of making room for all of a person's experiences, feelings, and stories, and working together to support ongoing healing, and to cultivate and deepen accountability for the violence and harm the person has caused.

  • In addition to our core offerings, when appropriate, we try to support people in connecting with facilitators for restorative and transformative justice processes that involve other people like survivors and community members.
